User Interfaces

Summary

In an IT system, a User Interface (UI) is the central interaction point with the user. This could be a display, a mouse or keyboard or a graphical software user interface. Since the UI is the entrance to a whole system, it should mirror all the system individual components and provide an interaction level for each of them (at least for the ones which need an interaction with the user).

Relation to CREMA

Since CREMA builds a holistic system consisting of multiple interactive components, following user interfaces enabling the interaction with the user are needed:

  • A central Web Dashboard collecting all the components' graphical user interfaces
  • A user interface installed on a Smart Mobile Device (Tablet or Smart Glass)

Designing user interfaces for interacting with 3D data involves a number of factors that are not found in traditional 2D interfaces. In this project, we explore subtle yet critical aspects of 3D control and feedback. A number of research outcomes have been integrated into several Autodesk products and we continue to explore this complex area.
